Major Stanley distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving with the 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, SEVENTH Air Force, Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, in action against the enemy in 1967. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major Stanley, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
