Almida (MCSN: 0-95242), United States Marine Corps, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as a Pilot with Marine Observation Squadron SIX (VMO-6), Marine Aircraft Group Thirty-Six, FIRST Marine Aircraft Wing, in connection with operations against the Viet Cong forces in Vietnam on 2 and 3 June 1967.
