(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Technical Sergeant Gordon E. Bauer, United States Air Force, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism while participating in aerial flight as AC-130H Sensor Operator, 16th Special Operations Squadron, deployed at a classified location on 3 March 2002. On that date, Sergeant Bauer displayed outstanding knowledge and superior airmanship under extremely hazardous combat conditioins while acting as crew noncommissioned officer in charge and primary sensor operator during a combat search and rescue operation in sooutheast Afghanistan.
