The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sergeant Andy Buric (ASN: 33167314), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, in action in the vicinity of Audigast, Germany, on 12 April 1945. On his own initiative he commandeered a half-track to go to the aid of four men, one of whom was seriously wounded, who were pinned down by heavy rifle fire from the front and sniper fire from the flank. He went knowing that a previous attempt had failed. His gallant attempt cost him his life but as a result of his initiative, the men pinned down were given an opportunity to move out of the area. His unselfish devotion to duty is in keeping with the finest traditions of the United States Army.
