Hearing cries of wounded in a minefield, Technician Fifth Grade Singer rushed in with utter disregard of his own safety and administered first aid. He continued to search through the minefield for wounded although it was then after dark. There were a total of nine men lying in the field. As Technician Fourth Grade crossed the minefield to loosen tourniquets at 20-minute intervals, and while waiting for litters to arrive, he detonated a mine, losing both legs. Technician Fourth Grade Singer’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
