While serving as a machine gunner for his company, when his unit became overwhelmed by the enemy, Staff Sergeant Jodrey stayed with his machine gun and protected his group until most of them escaped, before he was himself killed by enemy fire. Staff Sergeant Jodrey’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
