Raymond Hufft enlisted as a Private in 1934, and was Federalized from the Louisiana National Guard for service in World War II, rising to the rank of Colonel. Returning home to the Louisiana National Guard, at age 33 he became the youngest Adjutant General in the nation. He retired as a U.S. Army National Guard Major General.
