Major Hubbard was leading a collecting company of medics serving infantry troops. They were at the front administering dwindling supplies of medicine to the wounded men. The Japanese had moved their big guns up on the peninsula and the bombing was constant. Tending the injured and dying, Major Hubbard and his men worked on. Suddenly the Infantry was withdrawn, and Major Hubbard and his medics were left alone, unarmed and without protection. Major Hubbard displayed personal valor in leading his men back to safety. Major Hubbard’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
