(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Chef de Battalion Louis Andrew Xavier Giraud, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with 3d Battalion, 65th Regiment d’Artillerie d’Afrique, in action against enemy forces in France, from 16 August to 15 September 1944. Chef de Battalion Giraud’s outstanding accomplishments, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the Allied Nations.
