(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Lieutenant Colonel Jean Giles, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with 23d Regiment of Colonial Infantry, French Army, in action against enemy forces on 16 November 1944 and 17 April 1945. Lieutenant Colonel Giles’ outstanding accomplishments, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the Allied Nations.
