The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Private First Class Michael Balint (ASN: 6716468), United States Army, for heroism, not involving actual conflict with an enemy, displayed while serving with Headquarters Company, 22d Brigade at Schofield Barracks, Territory of Hawaii, on 23 July 1935. Observing a child with her clothing in flames and in grave danger of burning to death, Private Balint rushed to the aid of the child and at the risk of fatal burns to his own person extinguished the flames.
