The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Theodore J. Glowka (ASN: 36977912), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 319th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 8 January 1945 in Luxembourg. At Dahl, Luxembourg, when an estimated enemy company attacked Private First Class Glowka’s position, he fought them off for an hour and a half, before withdrawing to a house. Even though wounded he refused to surrender and entered into hand-to-hand and room to room combat, until he coerced twenty-five of the enemy to surrender. His courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
