The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Daniel M. Moyer (ASN: 0-1308999), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 80th Infantry Division in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 28 November 1944 in France. First Lieutenant Moyer, serving as Company Commander, personally led his company in an assault on the enemy, having his unit pass through the lead company, then temporarily halted by the intense enemy fire. Despite wounds in his chest and arm he continued to lead his men until the objective was attained. The bravery, outstanding leadership, and loyal devotion to duty displayed by First Lieutenant Moyer was in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
