Richard Trundy enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1950 while attending Port Huron Junior College. After completing Pre-Dental studies at the University of Michigan in 1952, he entered the Naval Flight Program and received his commission and was designated a Marine Aviator in 1954. He retired in 1987 as a United States Marine Corps Major General.
