The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fourth Grade Raymond G. Adams (ASN: 20203748), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 27th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy at Saipan, Mariana Islands, on 7 July 1944. Technician Fourth Grade Adams observing a wounded soldier about 350 yards off shore, without regard for his own safety, waded and swam to the injured man. As a result of his quick thinking and action the life of a wounded comrade was saved.
