The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Aviation Chief Machinist’s Mate Robert H. Bennett, United States Navy, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy on 4 – 6 June 1942, in performing exceptional feats in the leadership of his men and in the maintenance of facilities which, if impaired or suspended, would have seriously restricted the operation of aircraft during the Battle of Midway.
