The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Field Artillery) Wayne Brady (ASN: 0-1178078), United States Army, for gallantry in action during the period 16 – 17 December 1944. Lieutenant Brady, serving as a liaison pilot with the 687th Field Artillery Battalion, distinguished himself by his outstanding performance of duty. He displayed exceptional skill and courage in keeping his airplane in operation, adjusting fire, and observing on enemy troops. At one time, when his airfield was attacked by enemy tanks and infantry, he disabled a tank with rocket fire and personally manned a machine gun. His conspicuous heroism, many times demonstrated, and his fearless courage and loyal devotion to duty reflect the highest credit upon himself and the military service.
