The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Colonel Thomas L. Cathey, United States Army, for exceptionally valorous achievement while assigned as a Military Transition Team Chief, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Brigade, 2d Infantry Division, during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM on 10 April 2007. Colonel Cathey’s heroic actions, tremendous leadership, and personal dedication greatly contributed to combat operations during the Global War on Terrorism. His actions reflect distinct credit upon himself, the Multi-National Division-Baghdad, and the United States Army.
