The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Commander George Milton Rouzee (NSN: 0-78838), United States Navy, for extraordinary heroism in operations against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a carrier-based Navy Fighter Plane in on the strike of 18 July 1945, against the Japanese Naval Base of Yokosuka. As the Air Group Commander, Lieutenant Commander Rouzee skillfully and courageously maneuvered his group through very intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire in a bombing attack against the battleship KAGATO of the Japanese Fleet, he himself scoring a direct hit in the prescribed target area, at the waterline of the battleship. His leadership and courage were at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
