(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major Billy J. Rhoten, United States Air Force, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as an Air Operations Officer, Headquarters, 7th Air Force, at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, in 1969. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Air Force.
