An Iraqi who emigrated to the United Kingdom and then the United States, Ahmed Altaie was a U.S. Army linguist serving in Iraq when he was kidnapped while traveling in the Karballa neighborhood in central Baghdad, Iraq, to visit his wife’s family. He was promoted to Sergeant and then Staff Sergeant while missing in action. His remains were recovered and positively identified in February 2012.

    Sergeant Ahmed Kousay Altaie, United States Army (Reserve), 4th Infantry Division, was captured by Armed Iraqis on 23 October 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq, and died while in captivity.
