(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain (Air Corps) James Spires Cheney (ASN: 0-434736), United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as a Navigator with the 306th Bombardment Group and subsequently with the 303d Bombardment Group, EIGHTH Air Force, in action in the European Theater of Operations during World War II.
