The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Private Robert T. Hudson, United States Marine Corps, for heroism while serving with a Machine Gun Company of the FIRST Marine Division, while operating against the enemy in Korea on 24 – 25 July 1953. During an attack on a critical sector of the main line of resistance by a numerically superior enemy force, the bunker where his machine gun was set up was destroyed by hostile artillery and mortar preparatory flares. Unhesitatingly, he joined a heavy machine gun crew and continued to deliver deadly accurate fire upon the onrushing enemy. Later in the same action, he acted as a rifleman and with complete disregard for his own safety, moved into areas where fighting was fierce and participated with valor and skill in restoration and mopping up operations.
