The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Captain Burke Henderson Morgan, United States Air Force, for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as Bombardier-Navigator of a Bomber of the 606th Air Commando Squadron, 56th Air Commando Wing, in action in Southeast Asia on 14 August 1967. On that date, Captain Morgan, acting in the capacity of Navigator, Co-Pilot and Observer, supported his aircraft’s attack of a heavy concentration of opposing ground troops and trucks. After his attack was completed, Captain Morgan nursed the aircraft fuel to absolute minimum as he aided in guiding his compatriots into the target. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Captain Morgan has reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
