The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Navy Award) to Captain G. V. B. Faulkner, British Navy, for gallantry in action during the attack on Sicily, 10 – 12 July 1943. Captain Faulkner, as Commander of a British Warship, maneuvered his ship near shore and put out of action strong points of resistance, thus facilitating the seizure of beaches by a division of the U.S. Army
