Samuel Greaves was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1982 upon graduation from Cornell University. In 2008 he was appointed a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General. In 2012 he received his second star, and in 2014 received his third star as an Air Force Lieutenant General.
