After serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, George Cassady transferred to the U.S. Air Force when it became a separate branch of service in 1947. His brother Emmett Cassady retired in 1965 as a U.S. Air Force Major General, four years after George Cassady retired in 1961 as an Air Force Brigadier General.
