Henry Viccellio enlisted in the Army Air Corps as a private in 1934, and received his commission and wings in 1937. After serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, he transferred to the U.S. Air Force when it became a separate branch of service in 1947. He retired in 1968 as a U.S. Air Force 3-Star General. His son, by the same name, graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1962 and retired as a U.S. Air Force 4-Star General.
