Larry Spencer was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1980 upon graduation from Southern Illinois University. He was also the first Air Force officer to serve as Assistant Chief of Staff in the White House Military Office. From 2012 to 2015 he served as the 37th Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and retired in 2015 as a U.S. Air Force 4-Star General.
