Norton Schwartz graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado, Class of 1973. He was a crew member in the 1975 airlift evacuation of Saigon during the Vietnam War, and subsequently served as a Special Operations Pilot. From 2008 to 2012 he served as the 19th Chief of Staff of the Air Force. He retired in 2012 as a U.S. Air Force 4-Star General.
