During World War II, Everett “Bud” Miller became a U.S. Army Air Forces ACE, credited with shooting down 5 enemy aircraft in aerial combat. He was subsequently one of nine test pilots to fly the Bell XP-59A Airacomet, which was America’s first jet aircraft, and was released from active service in October 1945 following the end of the war. Initially credited with only four victories, in 1991, 47 years later, he learned that a damaged aircraft of July 18, 1944, was confirmed as a victory.
