(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain Donald Wood Loomis, United States Navy, was awarded a Second Gold Star in lieu of a Third Award of the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander of a Transport Group in the assault and capture of an enemy-held island in the Pacific, from 15 to 24 June 1944.
