The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Ernest E. Jackson, United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while piloting a fighter plane against an enemy submarine in the Atlantic during World War II. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Jackson relentlessly strafed the surfaced ship and assisted a torpedo bomber to press home a successful depth bomb attack. He continued to work in close coordination with the bomber until all his ammunition was expended.
