Schneider, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from 1 March 1966 to 15 February 1967, in connection with the organization of the Naval Air Systems Command, and as the first Assistant Commander for Research and Technology under the new command.
