Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class Charles Edward McVay (NSN: 3471525), United States Navy, was captured by the Japanese after his aircraft was shot down on or about 18 February 1945, and was held as a Prisoner of War until his execution by his captors on 29 May 1945.
