The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Second Lieutenant Theodore Aust Brown (MCSN: 0-31446), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in connection with military operations against the enemy on Okinawa Shima, Nansei Shoto on 28 April 1945. Second Lieutenant Brown destroyed two enemy planes in a single flight.

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Second Gold Star in lieu of a Third Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Theodore Aust Brown (MCSN: 0-31446), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in the Western Carolines from 26 June 1945 to 11 July 1945. First Lieutenant Brown completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.
