(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant General John Royster Thurman, III, United States Army, was awarded a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States with Headquarters, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, and later as Battalion Commanding Officer, 8th Field Artillery, and subsequently as Commanding Officer 25th Infantry Division Artillery, in the Republic of Vietnam, from 1966 to 1968.
