The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Field Artillery) Rutledge Parker Hazzard, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff Intelligence, Department of the Army, from August 1960 to June 1963.

(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Colonel (Field Artillery) Rutledge Parker Hazzard, United States Army, was awarded a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Executive Officer, I Field Force, Vietnam Artillery, and as Commanding Officer, 52d Artillery Group, in the Republic of Vietnam, from 1968 to 1969.

(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Colonel (Field Artillery) Rutledge Parker Hazzard, United States Army, was awarded a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States in the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1965 to 1968.

(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Brigadier General Rutledge Parker Hazzard, United States Army, was awarded a Third Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Fourth Award of the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as the Pershing Project Manager, and later as the Lance Project Manager, from 1969 to 1971.
