The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Rear Admiral George Andrew Knudsen, United States Coast Guard, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander, SEVENTH Coast Guard District, Miami, Florida, from June 1960 to July 1961 and subsequently as Chief, Office of Personnel, Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, D.C., from June 1961 to July 1965. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Rear Admiral Knudsen culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and his dedicated contributions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Coast Guard.
