Estep, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander Mine Division FIFTEEN and Commanding Officer of U.S.S. SKYLARK (AM-63), in action at Okinawa, from 24 to 29 May 1945.
