Seiber, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroic conduct during rescue operations incident to the sinking of a U.S. Escort Carrier while serving on board the U.S.S. LAWRENCE C. TAYLOR (DE-415), at Iwo Jima, on 21 February 1945.
