(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Joseph N. Lilly, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroic conduct in rendering assistance to the many wounded when the S.S. CHARLES HENDERSON exploded at the docks while discharging demolition bombs, U.S. Port Headquarters, Bari, Italy, on 9 April 1945.
