Ghesquiere, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Commanding Officer of Bombing Squadron EIGHTEEN (VB-18), embarked in U.S.S. INTREPID (CV-11), in the Battle for Leyte Gulf, on 24 October 1944.
