(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Andrew J. Sawyer, Jr., United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Fighting Squadron EITHTY-SEVEN (VF-87), embarked in U.S.S. TICONDEROGA (CV-14), in the vicinity of the Inland Sea of Japan on 28 July 1945.
