Deimel, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Torpedo Bombing Squadron FOUR (VTB-4), embarked in U.S.S. ESSEX (CV-9), over the French Indo-China area on 12 January 1945.
