Lewis, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Pilot of a Bombing Plane over the eastern Celebes, North Borneo, and the Tawitawi Islands from 21 October 1944 to 6 November 1944.
