(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant William H. Johnson, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Torpedo Data Computer Operator aboard the U.S.S. DRUM (SS-228), during the ELEVENTH War Patrol of that submarine in enemy-controlled waters, from 9 September 1944 to 8 November 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
