(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Edwin W. Frese, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Torpedo Data Computer Operator aboard the U.S.S. PINTADO (SS-387) during the FIRST War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters from 16 May 1944 to 1 July 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
