(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade [then Ensign] Keith Gardner, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Pilot of a Torpedo Plane in Bombing Squadron FOUR (VB-4), embarked in U.S.S. ESSEX over the Pescadores Islands on 15 January 1945.
