(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant [then Lieutenant, Junior Grade] Eliot Farley, Jr., United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Gunnery Officer aboard the U.S.S. HUTCHINS (DD-476) in Destroyer Squadron TWENTY-FOUR, at Surigao Straits, on 25 October 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
